Sultan Of Sokoto Reacts To Kaduna Village Bombing

Sultan of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has joined the call for justice for the victims of the inadvertent army airstrike in Tudun Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Vowing to persist until justice is served, the Sultan made this commitment during the 25th anniversary celebration of the 11th Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Muhammad, held at the Emir’s Palace in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

The occasion was seen as an opportunity for the people of Southern Kaduna to come together and work towards achieving peace in that region of the state.

The accidental airstrike resulted in the tragic loss of 85 lives, with numerous others sustaining injuries. Following the incident, the Nigerian Army issued an apology, assuring that steps would be taken to prevent a recurrence.

During a visit to Kaduna on Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima affirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to thoroughly investigate the accidental bombing and promised that anyone found responsible would face consequences. He further assured that the victims of the incident would receive support from the Federal Government.

“There is no gain in dwelling too much on this incident that has happened. I am here because the President is deeply concerned; he was deeply touched by what happened.

“Let’s not talk about the numbers, one life lost in cold blood is as gruesome as millions lost in a pogrom. The heart of the President is with the bereaved families. We were at the hospital to sympathise with the victims and be rest assured that the Federal Government stands by the community affected and the government and people of Kaduna State on this unfortunate incident.

“It is already directed by Mr President, an investigation is being conducted with a view to preventing a re-occurrence of the incident and we expect a report to be submitted in the shortest possible time,” Shettima said days after the incident threw the nation into mourning.

As per the Vice President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed the commencement of the Pullako Initiative in Kaduna State. The initiative encompasses a comprehensive package, featuring housing, clinics, schools, veterinary clinics, empowerment programs, solar energy, and other components, to be provided to the Tudun Biri community as a form of compensation for the damage caused by the drone misfire.
