Suspect Confesses: “We K!lled Her To Raise Money For Rent” In Ogun Broadcaster Case
According to Ireporter Online, a former security guard, Sodeinde Olajuwon Phillips, has confessed to his involvement in the brutal killing of retired Ogun State broadcaster, Olakitan Ibiyola Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” in a case that has shocked residents of the state.
The 67-year-old retired staff of the Ogun State Television was murdered alongside her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, at her residence in Agodo village, Kobape area of Abeokuta.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed that investigators discovered a handwritten note at the crime scene, which initially provided a crucial lead in tracking down the suspects. He explained that the note found on the deceased differed in handwriting from others recovered in the living room, raising suspicion during the investigation.
Ojajuni further stated that through intelligence gathering and technical tracking, operatives were able to recover the victim’s Lexus RX 330 and apprehend three suspects in connection with the crime. The suspects were identified as Olajuwon, 22; Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27; and Sobu Obafunsho, 36.
During interrogation, Olajuwon admitted participation in the robbery and killing, claiming that financial hardship motivated the attack. He stated that he and his accomplice decided to carry out the crime after expressing dissatisfaction over previous payments received from the deceased, adding that they needed funds to rent an apartment.
He further revealed that the attackers wore masks, forced the security guard to alert the household, and subsequently gained access to the residence before carrying out the assault. Olajuwon also confessed that the victim’s vehicle was taken immediately after the incident, with one of the suspects driving it away before he later separated from them.
Police authorities confirmed that the stolen Lexus RX 330 was later recovered near Olajuwon’s residence, with its number plates removed and concealed under one of the seats, strengthening the case against the suspects.
