Suspected-Israeli Airstrikes Kill Several In Syria Near Aleppo (Details)
Several people were killed in a suspected Israeli attack near Aleppo in north-western Syria, state media reported early Monday, citing a military source.
According to the reports, the area around Aleppo was targeted by airstrikes overnight. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that missiles hit positions of a pro-Iranian militia in the Hayan area north of Aleppo. However, this information could not be independently verified initially, and there was no immediate comment from Israeli authorities.
Israel’s air force frequently conducts airstrikes in neighboring Syria, aiming to prevent Iran and its allied militias from expanding their military influence in the region. Iran is a significant ally of Syria.
Since the onset of the war in the Gaza Strip almost eight months ago, Israeli attacks, most of which are not officially confirmed by Israel, have increased.
