Tension In Kaduna As Students Beg Government, ASUU To End Strike

In a statement issued in Kaduna on Friday, the student leaders acknowledged the dedication of lecturers in advocating for better funding and improved working conditions in universities.

The statement, signed by Comrade Aminu Umar, Chairman of the Joint Consultative Council of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Kaduna Axis, and nine others, recognized the validity of ASUU’s demands and urged the government to address the underlying issues.

“We acknowledge that since assuming office, Governor Uba Sani has shown commitment to student welfare, especially by reducing tuition fees and implementing an educational revitalization program. However, we appeal for a swift resolution as we are the ones most affected by this strike,” the students said.

They emphasized that the strike has disrupted their academic calendar and future prospects, urging both ASUU and the government to prioritize education and reach a middle ground.

Highlighting Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to fairness and human capital development, the students expressed confidence that he would consider ASUU’s demands with understanding and compassion.
