Tension: PDP Will Form Nigeria’s Next Government, Declares Oyo State Governor Seyi-Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has boldly asserted that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will form the next government in Nigeria. This declaration was made in Umuahia, Abia State, during a reception ceremony and the 76th birthday celebration of the PDP Board of Trustees chairman, Adolphus Wabara.

Makinde, who chaired the occasion, praised Wabara as a significant figure in the party and expressed optimism for PDP’s future. He stated, “PDP will give birth to the next government in Nigeria” in the upcoming political dispensation.

Highlighting the importance of the South East zone, Makinde encouraged the region to remain resilient despite current challenges, saying, “No matter what you are going through at this stage. Please, don’t be discouraged.”

Acting National Chairman of PDP, Umar Damagum, also spoke at the event, confidently predicting a PDP resurgence in the 2027 elections. “With what we are doing, we will come back sound, healthy, and victorious,” he said, urging party members to stay resolute and resilient.

The event’s chief host, Enugu State Governor Peter Mba, lauded Senator Wabara for his leadership during PDP’s “glorious days” and expressed hope that Wabara’s experience would help rejuvenate the party.

Senator Wabara, in his response, reassured the party members, saying, “The best of PDP is still ahead and in the future.” He emphasized the event as an opportunity for the South East to unite and rebuild the party.

Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, also attended, paying tribute to five slain soldiers in Aba by observing a minute of silence. Otti praised Wabara and stressed the unity of all people regardless of party affiliations. He criticized some PDP leaders for spreading messages about Abia’s safety, asserting, “Unfortunately, they are not here and may not be true members of the PDP.”

Otti committed to visiting the families of the slain soldiers and assured that security forces would bring the perpetrators to justice.

Senator Adolphus Wabara, in his appreciation speech, described the PDP as a family and expressed confidence that those who had left the party would return within the next few years.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including the Governors of Bauchi, Senator Bala Mohammed, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, and members of the PDP Board of Trustees and National Working Committee.
