According to Ireporter Online, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged stronger international collaboration to address Nigeria’s worsening security situation, as terrorism and violent extremism continue to expand across the country.

Adeboye made the appeal while speaking at the inaugural U.S.-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala held in Washington, D.C., an event that brought together religious leaders, Nigerian diplomats, human rights advocates, American policymakers, and members of the Nigerian and American communities.

The cleric expressed concern that insecurity in Nigeria, once concentrated in specific regions, has now evolved into a nationwide crisis affecting broader parts of the country. He noted that the situation has become deeply personal for him and many Nigerians, given its increasing proximity and impact.

He stressed that the fight against terrorism now demands enhanced cooperation between Nigeria, the United States, and other allied nations, insisting that local institutions alone can no longer effectively manage the scale of the threat. Adeboye called for expanded international assistance to strengthen Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts and improve overall security response.

“The scale of the challenge has exceeded the capacity of local institutions acting alone. Let the U.S. and other Western nations deepen their support for Nigeria’s fight against terrorism,” he said, adding that insecurity has become a national concern requiring global partnership.

The RCCG leader attended the event following the church’s annual convention in Dallas, Texas. The gala, organised by Save Nigeria Group USA in collaboration with the U.S.-Nigeria Civil Society Coalition, was held at the Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/U.S. Capitol under the theme, “Thank You, America. Please Do More.”
