Three Dead In US Military Helicopter Crash

The US military, in a statement, revealed the unfortunate event, stating that the identities of the victims would not be disclosed until their next of kin had been notified.

According to reports from the US Joint North Task Force, the UH-72 Lakota helicopter, which was assigned to the federal southwest border support mission, crashed around 2:50 p.m. near Rio Grande City, Texas.

The crash occurred during aviation operations, and one soldier sustained injuries. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

The report mentioned that those aboard the helicopter included one woman and three men, with the injured person in critical condition, as per information from a county official.

The Joint North Task Force, based at Fort Bliss, Texas, is an operation under the Defense Department that provides support to Customs and Border Protection with National Guard units.

This incident comes exactly a month after the tragic helicopter crash in the Mojave Desert Preserve in California, which claimed the lives of Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife and son, as well as former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Bamofin Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two others.
