Three Remanded In Prison Over Ibadan Explosion Tragedy

Ramatu Camara, Ganiu Malik, and Abubakar Samasa found themselves facing serious charges related to the explosion, including conspiracy, use of weapons of mass destruction, and stockpiling of radioactive materials.

Despite pleading not guilty to the charges, the court, presided over by Justice E.U. Akpan, ordered their remand in the Agodi correctional center. The case has been adjourned until April 11 to hear their bail applications.

According to police prosecutor Michael Ojeah, the defendants were accused of storing radioactive materials inside a building, which led to the tragic explosion claiming the lives of 14 individuals, including a 65-year-old woman named Bolanle Badmus.

While the prosecution expressed readiness to present their case, the defense counsel, Mr. Adeola Adebayo, requested a short adjournment to file necessary applications.

The charges against the accused individuals are in violation of various sections of the Terrorism, Prohibition, and Prevention Act 2022, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations.
