The incident occurred at the convocation square in Keffi, where bags of rice were awaiting distribution upon the arrival of the state Governor, Abdullahi Sule.

However, the overwhelming crowd of students attempting to enter the square overpowered the security personnel, causing a stampede as they broke through the gate.

An eyewitness, Moses Ajah, described the event as unfortunate, stating that some students seized bags of rice and fled to their hostels and other locations before the governor’s arrival.

“Some students were seen struggling with the police for the rice, and as word spread, the situation worsened,” Ajah recounted. “As we speak, some students are injured and receiving treatment at the school.”
