Tinubu Declares Nigeria’s Security Situation Is Improving

According to Ireporter Online, Tinubu made the statement on Thursday while receiving a delegation of traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, at the State House in Abuja.

The President acknowledged the difficulties involved in governing the country, describing security as one of the biggest challenges facing his administration. He, however, maintained that significant progress was being made in addressing the situation.

Tinubu praised members of the armed forces and police for their dedication and sacrifices in protecting the nation, urging Nigerians to appreciate their efforts.

He said the security situation was improving and encouraged citizens to support security personnel whenever they encounter them.

The President also called on state governors to utilise increased federal allocations to fund projects that would strengthen security infrastructure and improve connectivity within their states.

Tinubu emphasised the importance of intelligence gathering in tackling insecurity, urging Nigerians to remain alert, understand activities within their communities and report suspicious individuals or movements to relevant authorities.

According to him, recent security developments have provided lessons that require continuous review of the country’s security strategies, operations and structures.

The President further highlighted the need to strengthen community-based security measures, including the establishment of stronger forest guard systems and state police structures, as part of efforts to address emerging threats.

Tinubu also pledged to maintain regular engagements with traditional rulers across Nigeria, saying their knowledge and contributions would be valuable in improving governance and enhancing security.

He assured the traditional leaders that their recommendations would continue to receive attention as the government works toward creating a safer and more stable country.
