Tinubu Reveals What His Government Will Leverage On To Restructure Nigeria’s Economy

President Bola Tinubu has restated his administration’s dedication to maximizing the domestic utilization, processing, and export of Nigeria’s gas resources.

He emphasized that these resources would be instrumental in fundamentally reshaping the nation’s economy for substantial growth during his tenure.

Mr. Tinubu made these remarks on Friday in Abuja during a meeting with the board and management of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited at the State House.

The NLNG delegation, led by its chairman, King Edmund Daukuru of Nembe Kingdom, and the NLNG managing director, Philip Mshelbila, visited for discussions.

Mr. Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to addressing challenges hindering the entrepreneurial progress and development of industrious citizens.

He expressed his intention to encourage best business practices within the oil and gas sector, fostering an environment in which both Nigerian companies and international partners can thrive.

“We are now collaborating on both thought and action. We will partner with all stakeholders to redefine the future of our economy,” President Tinubu conveyed to the NLNG delegation.

Highlighting the strategic importance of natural gas as a catalyst for sustainable development and prosperity in Nigeria, President Tinubu pledged to establish a partnership with investors to generate job opportunities and enhance skill development for the youth.

The president underlined the significance of expanding economic opportunities to benefit Nigerians, stating, “It’s about growing the economic opportunities available so that Nigerians can reap the rewards. Skill development will benefit the many young people who need jobs and inclusion, enabling them to have more predictable and prosperous lives.”

Acknowledging the challenges faced by NLNG, particularly in terms of security, President Tinubu assured that all stakeholders, including host communities and security agencies, would play pivotal roles in finding solutions.

The board chairman, in his response, noted that the challenges experienced by non-government stakeholders in operations were being collaboratively addressed with the government. He emphasized the ongoing role of communities in mitigating these challenges.
