According to PRNigeria, three notorious Boko Haram terrorists, Khaids Abbah Tukur, Maimusari, and Bakura Jega, were killed by joint military operations involving air and ground components.

A credible defence intelligence source told PRNigeria that the three wanted insurgents were killed at Mantari in the Gezuwa area of Bama local government area of Borno State, along with over 75 other fighters.

According to the source, the operation that resulted in the deaths of Jega, Maimusari, and Tukur, as well as other Boko Haram terrorists, took place on Tuesday.

“The airstrikes by our NAF aircraft was authorized after it was revealed that a Boko Haram terrorist Commander, simply known as Ikirima, had stationed his fighters and gun trucks at Mantari village, alongside other terrorists from other locations who had converged at the same location, on motorcycles and bicycles.

“Subsequently, the authorization for an airstrike was given, leading to the elimination of several terrorists and structures in the area,” he said.

While speaking further, the military intelligence source told PRNigeria that after the first wave of their airstrikes, some surviving terrorists returned to the same location to evacuate the bodies of terrorists who had been neutralized.

“This thus provided an opportunity for a follow-up strike on the same location which has been confirmed very successful as over 200 terrorists were neutralized with dozens said to be in critical condition,” he added.

Meanwhile, a credible Civil Joint Task Force (CJTF) source confirmed that ISWAP and Boko Haram elements had finalized plans to resume active hostilities in the aftermath of Christmas and the upcoming general elections.

He said: “The timely intelligence received on their plans, especially their attempt to attack soft targets in Bama LGA thus helped in the successful airstrike which has reduced their will to regroup and attack innocent citizens”.

This comes as Faruq Yahaya, the chief of army staff, and his counterpart, Oladayo Amao, the chief of air staff, arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Sunday morning to celebrate Christmas with frontline troops.

Mr Yahaya, a lieutenant-general, and Mr Amao, an air marshal, have both praised the efforts of the air and ground troops, as well as other security agencies, in Operation Hadin Kai for the tremendous success that has been achieved in the theater.

According to them, the ongoing operation has resulted in significant improvements in the security situation in the region, and they urged the troops to continue doing their best to ensure that the North East is completely free of terrorists.
