Tragedy Strikes: Boko Haram’s Deadly Assault Claims 7 Lives In Borno
In a devastating turn of events, Boko Haram insurgents unleashed a deadly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Pulka/Firgi road in Gwoza Local Government, Borno State…..CONTINUE READING
The chilling incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday, January 29, 2024, when a commercial vehicle, ferrying innocent farmers, tragically ran over the concealed explosive.
Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, operating in the Lake Chad region, received intel confirming that the blast claimed the lives of seven farmers aboard the vehicle. Shockingly, seven more individuals sustained severe injuries, while some bodies were shattered into pieces by the force of the explosion.
Intelligence sources reveal that Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, grappling with the relentless advances of the Nigerian Military, are resorting to desperate measures. Their increased use of IEDs signals a strategic shift, exploiting their weakened state and diminished capabilities.
This ruthless tactic, primarily employing locally made bombs, has exacted a heavy toll on innocent civilians, particularly women and children in Borno state. The grim reality is that these homemade landmines contribute to over half of the recorded fatalities in the relentless counter-insurgency campaign unfolding in the Northeast.
As the nation mourns the loss of lives, questions loom about the ongoing efforts to quell this insurgency, and the need for collective resolve against the menace that continues to haunt the region.
