Troops Clash With IPOB, Kidnappers In Imo: Two Dead, Others Injured

According to a statement released by a Lieutenant Colonel for Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA, one kidnapper was fatally shot during a gun battle in Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area.

The troops, conducting routine patrol along Orlu-Owerri road, swiftly responded to a kidnapping incident, engaging the perpetrators. Despite attempts by the kidnappers to shield themselves with passers-by, the troops managed to neutralize one kidnapper and wound two others. They also seized an AK 47 rifle with loaded magazines and a motorcycle.

In a separate incident, troops, alongside Naval Base personnel in Oguta, neutralized a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Amagberedere village, Oguta LGA. The confrontation occurred during a raid on the suspected hideout of the group, with the dissidents opening fire on sight. The soldiers effectively responded, resulting in the neutralization of one terrorist and the recovery of a pump action shotgun and cartridges.
