Troops Neutralize IPOB/ESN Commander, In Imo State Operation

This significant achievement took place in the course of a clearance operation conducted by the Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA, in the Ihietukwa Command area of Orsu Local Government Area, Imo State.

The operation, based on credible intelligence, targeted the areas of Udda, Ihittukwa, and Orsumoghu. During the operation, the troops encountered fierce resistance from the terrorists, who employed Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to impede the advancing troops’ progress.

Despite the challenging circumstances, the joint forces, displaying superior firepower and tactical acumen, effectively repelled the criminals, forcing them to retreat in disarray. In the ensuing engagement, four of the insurgents were neutralized, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

Of particular significance was the elimination of Tochukwu, alias Ojoto, who served as the commander of the Ihietukwa Command for IPOB/ESN. Despite wearing multiple charms as protection, Ojoto was successfully neutralized by the gallant troops.

The recovered items from the insurgents’ hideouts include one AK-47 rifle with two magazines, two automatic pump-action guns, three handheld Baofeng radios, a laptop, and a Techno phone. Additionally, car keys, suspected marijuana, Biafran currencies, five IEDs, materials for IED construction, batteries used in detonating the IEDs, and assorted charms were confiscated.

This operation represents a significant blow to the activities of IPOB/ESN insurgents in the region and underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Army to ensuring peace and security in Imo State and the wider country.
