Troops Uncover IPOB Manufacturing Facility, Seize Significant Cache Of Firearms

According to a press release by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the operation took place in Onicha Olona, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The intelligence-led operation exposed the illicit activities conducted by the dissidents, who utilized the factory to carry out criminal operations aimed at spreading fear among nearby communities and innocent civilians.

Despite facing stiff resistance from the armed fighters, the troops successfully neutralized two of the combatants and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition during a fierce firefight.

The seized items included various firearms, ammunition, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), as well as equipment and materials used for manufacturing drones. Additionally, the troops confiscated weapons of different types, drones in various stages of construction, prototype models, materials for Improvised Explosive Devices, a fully equipped workshop, and multiple power generators.

Furthermore, four male and two female combatants were apprehended during the operation, further crippling the activities of the insurgent group.

Major Nwachukwu reiterated the unwavering commitment of the troops to dismantle terrorist and insurgent groups operating within the nation, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
