According to eyewitnesses and a viral video circulating on social media, the assailants launched a brazen assault on the banks at approximately five o’clock in the evening. Reports indicate that the robbers engaged in sporadic shootings and assaults not only at the banks – First Bank and Access Bank – but also at the town police station.

Tragically, the violence claimed the life of a police officer identified as Idoko, who was stationed at the Anyigba police station. Additionally, a civilian known as Alagama, a vendor at the Anyigba roundabout, fell victim to a stray bullet during the attack.

Eyewitnesses further revealed that the armed robbers intercepted an Access Bank bullion truck and forcibly gained access to its contents after disabling security measures. Simultaneously, another group of assailants targeted First Bank, where they reportedly made off with an undisclosed sum of money.

As of the time of this report, the police spokesperson had not responded to inquiries or messages regarding the incident, leaving the community in shock and mourning over the tragic loss of lives.
