Umeh, Nwoye, Onunkwo Clinch Anambra NDC Senatorial Tickets

Umeh emerged as the party’s candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, while Nwoye clinched the ticket for Anambra North. Onunkwo was selected to represent the party in Anambra South following the conclusion of the party’s state and National Assembly primaries conducted across the state on Friday.

The primary elections were held using the Option A4 voting system, beginning with the accreditation of registered party members before voting commenced later in the day. Party officials described the turnout as encouraging, with members participating actively throughout the exercise.

Beyond the senatorial contests, the party also produced candidates for both the House of Representatives and the Anambra State House of Assembly elections. Eleven candidates emerged for the House of Representatives, while 30 candidates secured tickets to contest seats in the state legislature.

Reacting to the outcome, the Anambra State Chairman of the NDC, Ikem Uzoezie, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and credible. He commended both successful and unsuccessful aspirants for demonstrating sportsmanship throughout the process.

Speaking on behalf of the victorious candidates, Onunkwo praised party members for maintaining order and unity during the exercise. He stated that the party’s candidates were united by a common commitment to advancing the development of Anambra State and delivering people-oriented representation.

He further expressed confidence that the calibre of candidates presented by the party would provide effective leadership and contribute significantly to the state’s progress in the years ahead.
