The outbreak of war in Sudan a year ago, pitting the Sudanese army (SAF) against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has led to the largest displacement crisis in the world.
Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN’s political affairs chief, briefed the Security Council on the escalating situation, highlighting clashes between RSF and SAF-aligned members of the Joint Protection Forces nearing the capital of North Darfur, El Fasher.
