UNN Clamps Down On Nightlife: Social Activities Now Capped At 6 PM

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has prohibited all campus social activities from continuing beyond 6 p.m.

The directive, contained in a statement signed by Mr. Inya Egwu, Acting Public Relations Officer of the university, follows an unfortunate incident on September 12. During a “burn fire” night organized by the students’ association of the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, a businessman, Chiebonam Nweze, also known as Power-Autos, was reportedly stabbed to death.

UNN management explained that the tragic event occurred after miscreants from a neighboring community infiltrated the gathering and instigated violence.

In response, the university has mandated that all future social activities must be held strictly during daylight hours and under the supervision of the University Security Unit. “Social events of any kind will not be permitted on our campuses beyond 6:00 p.m. henceforth,” the statement emphasized.

UNN assured the public of its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all members of its community and pledged to take all necessary measures to prevent a recurrence of similar incidents.
