Nigerian Stars Light Up Weekend Football: Goals, Debuts, And Brilliant Displays

It was an eventful weekend for Nigerian footballers across Europe and beyond, with several making notable contributions for their respective clubs. From Kelechi Iheanacho’s dramatic goal in Scotland to Victor Boniface’s key assist in Germany and Esther Okoronkwo’s brace in Canada, Nigerian talent continued to shine on the international stage.

In Scotland, Kelechi Iheanacho ended a six-month goal drought, marking his Celtic debut with a stoppage-time winner. Introduced in the 70th minute against Kilmarnock, Iheanacho calmly converted a penalty in the 96th minute, securing a 2-1 victory for Brendan Rodgers’ side at Rugby Park. In Germany, Victor Boniface made an immediate impact for Werder Bremen during their 4-0 demolition of Borussia Monchengladbach.
