Real Madrid have moved closer to completing the signing of RB Leipzig’s teenage winger Yan Diomande after reaching an agreement on personal terms with the highly rated Ivory Coast international.

According to Ireporter Online, the Spanish giants made significant progress in the deal after Paris Saint-Germain withdrew from the race for the 19-year-old forward, who had attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Diomande emerged as one of the most wanted young talents in the summer transfer window, with Liverpool and PSG among the clubs monitoring his situation at Leipzig.

Liverpool were the first club to make a concrete approach for the winger, submitting an offer worth £69 million in June, but Leipzig rejected the proposal. The Premier League club later turned their attention towards alternative targets.

PSG remained interested and reportedly attempted another move with a £102.5 million bid, but Leipzig rejected the offer. The French champions subsequently decided not to engage in a bidding war with Real Madrid.

The decision has opened the door for Madrid, who have now secured an agreement with Diomande over the personal terms of a potential contract.

Reports indicate that the proposed deal could follow a performance-related structure similar to the contract model given to England midfielder Jude Bellingham, allowing Diomande’s earnings to increase based on achievements.

Real Madrid are expected to pay a fee exceeding £100 million to complete the transfer of the young winger.

Diomande joined RB Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes last summer on a five-year contract, but his impressive development has quickly turned him into one of Europe’s most valuable young prospects.

Sources close to Madrid revealed that the club’s key transfer officials, Jose Angel and Juni Calafat, have followed Diomande’s progress for several years and insist that their interest was based on long-term scouting rather than recent performances.

Although Leipzig have made efforts to retain the talented forward, the club reportedly understands that growing interest from elite European teams and the possibility of a record transfer fee could make his departure difficult to prevent.

Diomande enjoyed a remarkable 2025/26 season, winning the Bundesliga Young Player of the Season award after recording 12 goals and eight assists.

His rise to the top has been rapid. After leaving Ivory Coast, the youngster joined a football academy in the United States in 2025 before moving to Leganes, where his performances earned him a switch to RB Leipzig.

The teenager is now on the verge of another major career move, with Real Madrid looking to secure one of football’s brightest emerging talents.
