Abia LP Candidate Assures Voters: “Your Votes Will Count In 2027

According to Ireporter Online, Anyaso gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday, where he said the Labour Party-led administration of Governor Alex Otti would ensure adequate security and create an environment for free and fair political participation across the state.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Otti, the LP candidate stated that all candidates would be allowed to campaign openly, while the votes of citizens would be protected from interference.

He warned individuals planning to manipulate the electoral process to abandon such plans, insisting that the government would not permit any form of electoral malpractice in the state.

“There will be no rigging of elections anywhere in Abia State come the 2027 general election. Anybody planning to write the election should go and write his will first. There will be no writing of election results in Abia State,” Anyaso said.

He further assured voters that security agencies would be available to protect the electoral process and encouraged residents not to be intimidated by political opponents.

The Bende Federal Constituency hopeful also promised to deliver effective representation if elected, highlighting his experience in the oil and gas, real estate and hospitality sectors as part of his qualifications.

Anyaso also pointed to his community development efforts, recalling that he established a free nursery school project for children in Ndebende community at the age of 26, which was later expanded to include primary education.

According to him, the initiative has continued to provide free education to hundreds of children since 2008.

On the issue of zoning, Anyaso referenced an agreement reached in 2019 among stakeholders in Bende, stating that the federal constituency seat was expected to rotate between Bende North and Bende South after the completion of the current representative’s eight-year tenure.

He argued that fairness and equity required the position to return to the Bende North bloc after the tenure of the incumbent, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

The LP candidate also expressed support for President Bola Tinubu completing his constitutional tenure before power moves to another region, stressing the importance of honouring agreements.

Meanwhile, traditional ruler HRH Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu confirmed that monarchs in Bende Local Government Area had endorsed the rotational arrangement.

Ukaegbu, who serves as the Third Deputy Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, said 65 traditional rulers from the constituency supported the 2019 agreement aimed at ensuring balance and fairness between Bende North and Bende South.

He stated that the document was signed by key traditional leaders as part of efforts to maintain peaceful political succession within the constituency.
