2026 WAFCON: Suspect Arrested Over Super Falcons Hotel Theft, Confesses To Crime

According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian journalist and former Super Eagles media officer, Colin Udoh, disclosed that the suspect was identified by the police and admitted involvement in the theft. He added that the stolen funds would be returned to the affected players while legal proceedings continue.

The incident occurred on the final day of the Super Falcons’ training camp in Casablanca before the team moved to Rabat for their Group C fixtures.

Midfielder Esther Okoronkwo had earlier revealed that she, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Michelle Alozie and team captain Rasheedat Ajibade were among the players affected by the theft.

Okoronkwo stated that more than $1,000 was taken from their hotel rooms and criticised the hotel management’s response after the players reported the incident.

She alleged that hotel officials failed to provide satisfactory answers and handled the complaint poorly.

However, the situation took a positive turn after reports emerged that a suspect had been arrested and had confessed to the crime.

Udoh said the suspect would make full restitution to the players, while authorities would continue with the necessary legal process.

Despite the setback, the Super Falcons have remained focused on their WAFCON campaign. The nine-time African champions continued training on Sunday at the AS FAR training ground in preparation for their opening Group C match against Malawi in Rabat.

Coach Justine Madugu’s team will also face Zambia and Egypt in the group stage as they aim to secure another continental title and extend their record as Africa’s most successful women’s football team.
