VIDEO Shows An Angel Sighted During Russia-Ukraine War?

In a video shared on Facebook in September 2023, it is claimed to depict “an angel sighted during the Ukraine war.”

The footage captures a group of individuals pointing towards the sky, just moments before a winged figure swiftly crosses the screen, eventually disappearing behind clouds.

While some users responded with “Amen,” possibly indicating their belief in the celestial nature of the vision, others expressed skepticism. One user remarked, “Today alone, I’ve come across four different videos like this, all set to the same soundtrack.”

As of February 2022, Russia initiated an invasion of Ukraine, and the conflict between the two nations persists. However, what exactly is occurring in this enigmatic video? We conducted an investigation to find out.

Upon conducting an internet search, it was discovered that the same video had been posted on TikTok in 2022 by a prominent account boasting over 11 million followers. The bio of this account, translated to English, identifies the user as a “content creator.”

This account features numerous video clips seemingly depicting angels, sacred structures, and other imagery emerging from clouds in handheld footage. It’s possible that this imagery has been manipulated by the TikTok user. While the footage appears genuine, the images seem digitally altered, both in the current clip and in several others posted by the same user.

Furthermore, the background noise in the video matches that of at least one other video on the user’s profile, raising doubts about the authenticity of the footage. Additionally, at one point, someone in the background can be heard shouting “s’il vous plaît, s’il vous plaît,” which translates to “please, please” in French. This seems improbable if the footage was genuinely captured in Ukraine.

Scientists attribute this phenomenon of perceiving familiar shapes or figures in clouds, rock formations, or other surfaces to pareidolia. However, such imagery typically arises directly from the cloud, rock, or object itself and does not manifest as a distinct, detailed figure. This differs from the angelic figure in the video, which appears detached from the clouds.

Similar instances have been debunked previously, including by sources like Politifact and USA Today. It seems that angels are frequently associated with footage like this in locations affected by wars or conflicts, such as Ukraine.

One debunking effort from Factly in May 2022 focused on a clip uploaded by the same TikTok account as the video in question. It demonstrated another improbable angelic figure in the clouds, further affirming its inauthenticity.
