Akinajo also provided timelines for key projects, stating that the second phase of the Blue Line Rail project, from Mile 2 to Okoko, is expected to be completed by 2027. Infrastructure work for the Red Line corridor, a 37-kilometer rail route from Agbado to Marina with 13 stations, is set to be completed by December. Commercial operations on the Red Line are targeted to commence in the second quarter of 2024.
In addition, LAMATA announced plans to deploy over 1,000 electric buses (EBs) on the roads within the next 24 months. This initiative aims to explore alternative fuels for urban mobility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
