WHO Warns Of Impending “Bloodbath” If Israel Proceeds With Rafah Operation
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a grave warning regarding the potential consequences of Israel’s planned military operation in Rafah. In a statement posted on its official page, the WHO cautioned that proceeding with the operation could result in what it described as “a bloodbath.”…..READ ALSO Edo Residents Embrace Akpata’s “Who Is Your Guy?” Campaign Slogan As Symbol Of Connection And Commitment
The organization highlighted that over 1.2 million people are currently seeking shelter in Rafah, with many unable to relocate elsewhere. It emphasized that a military incursion into the southern border city would exacerbate the already dire situation, leading to increased overcrowding and severely limiting access to essential services such as food, water, healthcare, and sanitation. This, in turn, could trigger a surge in disease outbreaks, worsen hunger levels, and lead to further loss of life.
The WHO further noted that Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure is already under immense strain, with only a fraction of hospitals and primary healthcare centers operational due to repeated attacks and shortages of critical medical supplies, fuel, and staff.
Urging for immediate and sustained action, the WHO called for an immediate ceasefire and the removal of barriers hindering the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid into and across Gaza. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains resolute in his determination to launch an offensive in Rafah to eradicate the remaining strongholds of Hamas.
