A GROUP, Coalition for Progressive Minds for Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PMBAT), has pledged to mobilise nationwide for the victory of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in next year’s election.

Rising from a strategy meeting, which took place in Lagos, recently, the coalition, an umbrella body for 700 support groups, which is working for the emergence of the APC flag bearer, said it is determined to begin a house-to-house campaign for Tinubu.

One of its grand patrons and a three-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ifako-Ijaiye, Dayo Saka Fafunmi, said the time has come for all progressives in the country to queue behind the APC presidential flag bearer because of his contributions to the enthronement of democracy in the country.

Fafunmi said all Nigerians, particularly those from the Southwest, must go from house to house and door-to-door to sensitise all eligible and registered voters about the need to vote for the APC candidate.

The lawmaker said the time has come for all members of the coalition to go to the nooks and crannies of their states to sell the party’s candidate.

Fafunmi said he is proud to be a protégé of Asiwaju Tinubu and his school of politics. He said the former Lagos State governor has shown the capacity to lead, as well as discover, nurture and develop talents, who today are holding their own in various strata of society.

He said: “As governor of Lagos between 1999 and 2007, Tinubu took Lagos’ internally generated revenue (IGR) from N600 million to N30 billion within eight years. Today, financial engineering is comfortably raking in N50 billion. Such a man should be trusted to take Nigeria away from the jungle and bring it back to the era of prosperity.”

Fafunmi described Tinubu as a detribalised Nigerian who usually go for talents wherever they could be found anywhere in the country without prejudice. He added that those who are currently profiting from the crisis in the nation would continue to throw in the wedge just to de-market him.

He said the time has come for all Nigerians, irrespective of whatever they hold against the seasoned politician, to forgive and forget if the politician has offended them in one way or another. He added that Tinubu is a notch higher than all the competitors that are jostling for attention ahead of the election, scheduled to hold in February next year.

Its Director-General, Bashorun Yemi Oladokun said the group is happy to be working for the actualisation and realization of Tinubu’s dream to govern the country.

He said the APC candidate stands far above all the other candidates competing for votes ahead of the election. He added that the APC candidate is an astute politician and a sound manager of men and materials.

Oladokun said the precarious situation in the country today demands a sound administrator and financial engineer who can take the country away from its current woes.

The director-general said the group, which has members nationwide, is in the process of appointing state, and local government coordinators. He assured that all the structures would be in place by next month when the full electioneering campaign is expected to kick off.

He assured all members that efforts are in top gear to conclude all registration processes at the party’s national headquarters, in order to ensure the centralization of all its efforts to promote the party’s candidate.

The Deputy Director-General of the coalition, Olayinka Sotayo said the group is geared to go into serious business aimed at ensuring Tinubu’s success at the poll.

Women Leader, Mrs Omoye said the women are already mobilised to support the aspiration of the APC presidential candidate. Omoye said she and her team are ready and willing to work selflessly for the emergence of the APC candidate as President Buhari’s successor come February next year.

Members of the group drawn from all major ethnic groups in the country vowed to go from ward to ward and from one local government to the other to ensure the success of their mentor and political leader.
