Wike: It Too Late for Atiku To Acquire Character And Integrity

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, has stated that it is too late for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to acquire the character and integrity he has lacked from the onset. Olayinka emphasized that no one knows Atiku better than former President Olusegun Obasanjo, under whom Atiku served as Vice President for eight years…READ MORE….

This statement was in response to remarks from the Atiku Media Office, which suggested that Atiku’s character influenced the rejection of the decision made by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) committee tasked with selecting its Vice Presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

Olayinka pointed out that Atiku has consistently been associated with questionable character and integrity. He referenced Obasanjo’s book, “My Watch,” where the former president described Atiku as lacking integrity and being prone to dishonesty and corruption.

According to Olayinka, one of the reasons Governor Wike initially rejected Atiku’s offer to be his running mate was due to Atiku’s unimpressive character and integrity record. He added that despite Atiku’s assurance that the committee’s decision would be binding, he later disregarded it, choosing Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

Olayinka further criticized Atiku for allegedly presenting false narratives about the committee’s report, accusing him of hypocrisy by now speaking on character and integrity. He also pointed out that despite Obasanjo’s damning remarks in “My Watch,” Atiku has never refuted the claims.

In contrast, Olayinka described Wike as someone who does not conceal his stance on issues, unlike Atiku, who he accused of inconsistency, especially when addressing major political matters. He concluded that Atiku, at his age, should focus on being truthful and reliable, rather than remaining fixated on his ambition to become president.
