Wike announced this in a statement from the FCT sports department on Tuesday in Abuja. A special reception will be held on Thursday to celebrate athletes who participated in the 2022 National Sports Festival and the 7th and 8th National Youth Games. Wike expressed that the recognition is meant to acknowledge the athletes’ dedication, patriotism, and contributions to the FCT’s success. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sports development, emphasizing that President Bola Tinubu’s administration will continue to provide an environment that fosters youth empowerment through sports.
