Wike explained that the relocation was necessary for the broader public interest and assured that the relocation committee was diligently working to move the traders to a permanent site in Wasa. He emphasized that the traders were already aware of the road project and the need for them to vacate the area.
“We have informed them that when the time comes, they will have no choice but to relocate for the greater good of everyone,” Wike said. “This is not about any individual’s interest but for the benefit of the public.”
He further noted that the project was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to enhance road infrastructure not only within the city but also in satellite towns. “The roads being constructed in these areas will be equipped with solar street lights, a first for these communities,” Wike added.
