In her account, @wealthy_dee001 recounted accompanying her mother to a religious service in their village, only to be shocked when her wig was forcibly removed. Subsequently, she was instructed to kneel and seek forgiveness from God as her wig was burned. The church’s belief was that wearing a wig constituted a sin against God.

Expressing astonishment, @wealthy_dee001 admitted she had no prior knowledge that wearing wigs was considered sinful in Nigerian religious practices. She shared her nearly tearful experience in a viral TikTok video, prompting a widespread discussion on the platform.
