“Wunmi Toriola Explains Reasons Behind Apology To Afeez Owo”

According to reports, Yoruba Nollywood actress Wunmi Toriola has revealed that her recent apology to veteran actor Afeez Owo stems from her commitment to cultural values.

The reconciliation follows a public disagreement that occurred in September, when Wunmi criticized Afeez over comments he made about her roles during an interview on the African A-List podcast. Afeez had suggested that Wunmi’s on-screen characters mirrored her real-life persona, stating that “violence is her comfort zone.”

At the time, Wunmi responded on Instagram, dismissing the interview as nonsense and questioning why personal disputes were being aired publicly.

The tension, however, came to an end at the premiere of a film by fellow actor Odunlade Adekola, where Wunmi approached Afeez, knelt, and apologized in a gesture that was warmly received. Afeez, who initially hesitated, embraced her after the apology.

In a Tuesday Instagram post, Wunmi emphasized her decision to prioritize peace and respect for elders. She stated, “I chose to apologise to our Legend because I am a true ambassador of culture, and even in ‘anger’, our elders should be off limits. Also, because our elders deserve calm waters, not raised voices. Once again, to our fans and friends, no more grudges. I have chosen peace. Thank you for your forgiving self.”
