This decision came after Bello’s lead counsel, Abdulwahab Mohammed, assured Justice Emeka Nwite of his client’s willingness to comply with the court’s directives. Mohammed emphasized that Bello’s concern was primarily for his safety, alleging threats to his life in the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.

Justice Nwite, acknowledging the concerns raised, assured that the EFCC would act within the confines of the law. He reminded the court that Bello’s case was not unique and urged adherence to due process.

In response, Bello’s lawyer expressed gratitude for the reassurance regarding his client’s safety and requested four weeks to facilitate Bello’s appearance in court.

With no opposition from the EFCC counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, Justice Nwite scheduled June 13 for Bello’s appearance, where his plea will be entered.
