State Commandant Sani Mustapha disclosed that NSCDC operatives apprehended a notorious gang attempting to steal a Bajaj motorcycle from a commercial rider in the Gada Biyu Area of Gusau metropolis.

The three suspected motorcycle thieves were identified as Abdulkarim Usman (29), Aminu Ibrahim (28), and Nasiru Bala (20). They allegedly collaborated with Sani Samaila, a motorcycle dealer, to rob and assault a Bajaj motorcycle owner during a lawful commercial operation.

Mustapha, speaking through the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ikor Oche, stated that the suspects confessed to the crime, revealing they assaulted the victim with a hard stick and fled with the motorcycle before their arrest. The timely intervention of NSCDC operatives led to their apprehension, with two Bajaj motorcycles recovered as evidence.

Furthermore, the NSCDC paraded individuals accused of disrupting public peace and torching the Corps’ operational vehicle during Eid prayers at the Central Eid ground in Gusau on April 10. Mustapha explained that the suspects sought retaliation for a prior altercation at a gold mining site in Niger Republic with a group known as Yan Arle.

All suspects will face prosecution after the investigation’s conclusion to serve as a deterrent to others, emphasized the NSCDC commandant. This action underscores the agency’s commitment to maintaining law and order in Zamfara State.
