Restaurants along Admiralty Road, Lekki Phase 1, also adapted their settings to reflect the Valentine’s Day theme.
A correspondent from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) visited Ebeano Supermarket in Lekki and observed heavy traffic congestion in and around the store.
Long queues formed at the cashier points as shoppers lined up to pay for their purchases.
Tony Uzoma, a shopper, shared that he visited the store to buy gift items for his friends, expressing surprise at the bustling crowd but determined to fulfill his promise.
“I came to shop for items for my friends to mark the Valentine’s Day because I made them a promise that I would get each of them gifts,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Ikechukwu Osuwah, a father of four, disclosed that he was purchasing groceries for his family to spend quality time together at home.
“My work takes me away from my family but this year is different because I have to make extra efforts to ensure that I have time off during this period,” Osuwah said.
At N.Y Supermarket in Lekki, parking became a challenge due to limited space, causing some shoppers like Joseph Ebune to consider returning early the next day or resorting to online shopping.
An anonymous staff member from Freedom Supermarket disclosed that the store experienced a significant increase in sales in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day, attributing it to customers rushing to buy gifts for their loved ones.
