According to Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, the Commander General of the board, the decision was made to prevent the mingling of genders during such gatherings, aligning with Islamic principles. Henceforth, only female DJs will be permitted to officiate at women’s events.

Sheikh Daurawa emphasized the importance of upholding Islamic values and preventing situations that could lead to moral decadence, citing the potential promotion of immorality through mixed-gender events.

The Hisbah Board has previously engaged with event center owners and managers to educate them on the relevant laws governing their operations.

In response to the new guidelines, Ibrahim Abdullahi, representing the DJs, expressed gratitude for the Hisbah Board’s counsel and emphasized the importance of adhering to the guidelines, particularly regarding prayer times and gender segregation during events.

Abdullahi urged all DJs operating in the state to register with their union to ensure compliance with the Hisbah’s regulations. He cautioned that DJs who fail to adhere to the guidelines risk facing sanctions and may not receive support from the union if found in violation of the Hisbah’s directives.
