Davido Shares Father’s Advice After Receiving $400,000 From Fans

During his appearance on The Morning Hustle podcast on Tuesday, Davido reflected on a pivotal moment in 2021 when his father cautioned him against keeping the generous donations he received.

“I randomly shared my account number on Twitter for my birthday, and my fans ended up sending me nearly $400,000. I was contemplating how to use it,” he shared.

Davido continued, recounting his father’s reaction: “My dad called me and said, ‘You know you can’t keep that money, right?’ I was taken aback, thinking, ‘What do you mean I can’t keep my own money?’”

As a result, Davido decided to donate the full amount to a home for abandoned children. “I gave it all to the motherless babies’ homes. We continued that tradition for the first and second years; the first year was from the donations, and the next year I used my own funds. I’ve contributed again this year as well.
