The statement labeled the reports as “fabrications” from political opponents desperate to undermine Governor Adeleke’s leadership ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial elections. Rasheed criticized the opposition APC for its alleged inability to field credible candidates, noting their internal struggles and the public’s preference for Adeleke’s administration.

“The fake reports highlight the APC’s desperation and reflect their acknowledgment of Governor Adeleke’s inevitable re-election in 2026,” the statement read. “The Imole movement remains strong, with support from God, the people, and even federal authorities.”

Rumors of defection have also been linked to other PDP governors, including Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta). However, all have denied such claims, with some accusing President Bola Tinubu’s administration of attempting to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and prominent PDP leaders like Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi) have also condemned alleged efforts by the APC to coerce defections.

Meanwhile, PDP elder statesman Chief Bode George has expressed confidence in the party’s resurgence by 2027, emphasizing the importance of unity, equality, and fairness within its ranks.
