The Nigerian government has reinforced its commitment to sustainable transportation and environmental conservation by introducing electric vehicles in the country.

This initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s target of achieving a 30% growth in electric mobility as outlined in the National Automotive Industrial Development Plan. Enoh acknowledged skepticism regarding electric vehicles in Nigeria but stressed that embracing innovation is key to progress.
“This launch is not just about introducing buses but about ensuring Nigeria remains competitive in the global automotive industry. Electric vehicles are the future, and that future begins now,” he stated.
Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, also reiterated the government’s commitment to utilizing Nigeria’s abundant lithium reserves for local battery production, thereby reducing raw material exports and fostering economic growth.
Similarly, the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Joseph Osanipin, emphasized the need to make electric vehicles affordable for Nigerians. He affirmed that the fully electric buses would contribute to zero emissions and a healthier environment.
Mosope Olaosebikan, Chief Executive Officer of NEV Motors, hailed the launch as a major milestone for Nigeria’s transition to clean transportation. He declared that despite initial doubts, the country is not only ready for electric mobility but is also taking the lead in the sector.
With this move, Nigeria is positioning itself at the forefront of sustainable transportation, paving the way for a greener and technologically advanced future.
