Vehicle Carrying Illicit Drugs, Military Gear Intercepted In Delta

The Delta State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle allegedly conveying illicit drugs and military accoutrements in the state, leading to the arrest of the driver.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed that the operation was carried out on September 18, 2026, by operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Asaba, following credible intelligence.

According to reports, the police received information about a Toyota Sienna allegedly transporting suspected illicit drugs and military-related items from Onitsha in Anambra State towards Ondo State.

Acting on the intelligence, the operatives reportedly mounted surveillance along the suspected route and intercepted a green Toyota Sienna with registration number KP 527 AAA. The vehicle was being driven by a 45-year-old man identified as Isaac Urji.

Edafe said a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of cartons containing suspected Tramadol and other substances believed to be illicit drugs, alongside military camouflage uniforms, boots and hats.

The driver was subsequently arrested in connection with the recovered items, while the police commenced an investigation into the consignment.

According to the command, investigators are working to establish the source and intended destination of the recovered items, as well as identify other individuals who may be connected to the alleged shipment.

Edafe added that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
