In a ceremony marking their retirement, Major General Victor Ezugwu, representing the retirees, expressed their unwavering commitment to the military profession. He emphasized the importance of sustaining and surpassing the strategic, operational, and tactical achievements made by the Nigerian Army.

Addressing the challenges faced by the army, Ezugwu urged the Infantry Corps to remain proactive in the face of evolving threats to Nigeria’s sovereignty. He highlighted the need for advancements in night fighting capabilities, frontline intelligence gathering, and basic field crafts training.

Ezugwu also advocated for the adoption of modern technology and ICT solutions while emphasizing the importance of developing leadership skills among junior commanders.

Reflecting on their careers spanning between 30 to 38 years, the retiring Generals expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation. They described retirement as a mixture of emotional feelings, nostalgic memories, and unwavering fulfillment.

Acknowledging the support of Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, Ezugwu expressed appreciation for the memorable pulling out parade organized in their honor.
