The collision involved four vehicles, including a Mazda, Toyota Hiace, Bajaj, and a Sino Truck, with no registration number.
The incident, which occurred around 8:55 am, left 17 individuals injured out of the 32 passengers, comprising 12 men and 20 women. Florence Okpe, the Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun, attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed by the Sino truck, which lost control while attempting to negotiate a bend at high speed on the Iju bridge, colliding with two other vehicles.
The injured victims received medical attention at Ota General Hospital, as Okpe urged motorists to prioritize safety over speed and considerate driving habits to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
