Following Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Sunday, Iwobi was among the players subjected to criticism.

In response, the Fulham star removed all the images he had posted on his official Instagram page after the AFCON final.

Although he played for 79 minutes in Jose Peseiro’s team’s unsuccessful attempt to defeat Cote d’Ivoire, Iwobi was substituted by Alhassan Yusuf for the final 10 minutes of the match.

However, in a tweet shared on his X account on Monday, Regha emphasized, “The 2023 AFCON has concluded; it’s time to move forward. Let’s refrain from bullying Alex Iwobi or any other member of the Super Eagles team; after all, it’s merely a game and a trophy.”

Regha pointed out the detrimental effects of such toxic behavior, suggesting that it could dissuade some players from representing Nigeria in future tournaments. He stressed the importance of ending this pattern of behavior, emphasizing, “We lament oppression, yet we frequently contribute to pushing individuals into depression when things don’t go as planned. Let’s put a stop to it!”
