Report Reveals: Over 230 EU Firms Thriving In Nigeria, Generating 130,000 Jobs

This comprehensive study, titled ‘2023 Mapping of European Union Companies in Nigeria,’ showcases the EU’s significant investment footprint in Nigeria, spanning diverse sectors and regions of the nation.
Key findings from the report indicate that EU companies, hailing from 17 of the 27 member states, have poured over €2 billion into the Nigerian economy in the past fiscal year alone, with a remarkable turnover of approximately €4 billion during the same period.
Lagos emerges as the epicenter of this economic activity, hosting 80% of EU companies, with manufacturing leading as the largest individual sector, constituting 19% of the total firms surveyed.
Moreover, EU businesses are actively contributing to Nigeria’s skilled workforce, offering professional training opportunities to over 6,000 employees, thereby enhancing the nation’s human capital development.
Ms. Samuela Isopi, the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, lauds these findings, emphasizing that the EU’s partnership with Nigeria extends beyond trade figures, manifesting in tangible investments, job creation, and economic growth.
Yann Gilbert, President of the European Business Chamber Nigeria, underscores the report’s significance, highlighting the substantial contributions of EU companies to Nigeria’s economic landscape and bilateral relations.
As Nigeria continues to attract significant foreign investment, bolstering its position as a hub for international business, the EU’s enduring commitment to fostering mutual prosperity and collaboration remains unwavering.
