AFCON Final: Omeruo Criticizes Peseiro For Defensive Approach Against Ivory Coast

Omeruo, speaking to reporters after the match, expresses disappointment that Nigeria failed to clinch the AFCON trophy.

Reflecting on the game, Peseiro states, “I believe we adopted a defensive stance right from the beginning of the match, which prolonged throughout the game. Sustaining such a defensive strategy for an extended period is challenging. A single mistake can result in a goal. Commencing the game defensively often leads to fatigue. Personally, I am disheartened by our inability to secure the trophy.”

It is recalled that Ivory Coast secured a 2-1 victory over the Super Eagles, with goals from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller. Captain William Troost-Ekong did manage to score a goal for Peseiro’s team during the match.
