The funds in question were amassed through the sale of forms and various fundraisers for the 2023 general elections. However, Oparah, during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, expressed frustration at her inability to fulfill her constitutionally mandated role of managing the party’s accounts due to resistance from National Chairman, Julius Abure.

Allegations of financial opacity and obstruction of scrutiny into the party’s financial records have cast a shadow over the Labour Party, intensifying an already brewing crisis.

Addressing the media, Oparah lamented the lack of internal accountability mechanisms and accused Abure of gross financial mismanagement and corruption. She emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and justice within the party, citing unchecked abuse of power and deliberate undermining of her authority as National Treasurer.

With tensions mounting and internal strife escalating, the Labour Party faces a pivotal moment in its quest for integrity and governance.
