Afenifere Urges Justice For Dele Farotimi, Decries His Arrest

Earlier, the activist had raised concerns about a possible abduction to Ekiti over defamation charges linked to his book. In response to his arrest, Afenifere, through its Deputy Leader and National Publicity Secretary, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, and Prince Justice Faloye, condemned the police action as illegal, brutal, and a violation of democratic principles.

Afenifere stressed that Farotimi, a vocal government critic, anti-corruption advocate, and proponent of true federalism, should not be subjected to abuse or detention without proper legal proceedings. The organization also raised concerns about rumors of plans to detain Farotimi for extended periods, and called on democracy advocates to stand up against such actions by law enforcement, likening them to criminal behavior.
