Speaking to the Senate Press Corps on Tuesday, Ibrahim emphasized that taxing the rich could help alleviate Nigeria’s economic challenges. He highlighted the need for luxury taxes to be monitored and collected, suggesting that addressing this gap could help bridge Nigeria’s economic divide.

Ibrahim also proposed creating a comprehensive database to track the taxable rich, noting that Nigeria’s GDP-to-tax ratio is just 18%, with 72% of the population not contributing to taxes. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the wealthiest citizens pay their fair share to support the nation’s recovery.
