Force PRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi clarified in a statement that four officers—DSP Peter Ejike, Inspector Ekende Edwin, Inspector Esther Okafor, and Sergeant Talabi Kayode—have been implicated in extorting ₦43.16 million from an individual they detained unlawfully. The officers, who acted without proper authorization, have been suspended and will face prosecution for their misconduct.

Adejobi also condemned the spread of misinformation alleging IGP Egbetokun’s involvement, describing it as an attempt to tarnish his reputation. He assured the public that the officers’ actions were an isolated incident and emphasized the administration’s commitment to reforming the police force.
